Meet You Hosts

James and Cindy are the owners and hosts of Yachats Bear House. We created this vacation home to share our love of Yachats and the breathtaking Central Oregon Coast with our guests. We wanted to create a welcoming, comfortable space where families, couples, and traveling professionals can relax, recharge, and feel right at home.

We genuinely enjoy hosting and getting to know our guests, and we’re always happy to share our favorite local spots, hidden gems, and tips for making the most of your time in Yachats.

a note about us:

Meet Bonnie Bear

The house takes its name from Bonnie, the wood-carved bear who's stood watch out front for decades, long before we owned the place — she's become something of a mascot, and yes, guests are welcome to take a photo with her.

five star reviews… is the norm

The Bear House was even more spectacular in person! The home was beautifully decorated and the layout was perfect for connecting with family during meals, enjoying breathtaking sunsets, card games, or listening to ocean waves and bird songs. We had everything we needed and more - with thoughtful touches like snacks, spices, and all of the cookware to make our meals. Very walkable location - we made our way to the beach and to town center very easily. The hosts were also incredibly welcoming, friendly, kind and super responsive. Honestly this is at the top of my list for the best home rentals I have stayed in because it exceeded every expectation from location, comfort, views, amenities, value, and host interactions. What an incredible experience.

We had a fantastic stay here! The layout of the home was perfect for our multi-generational family vacation. There were games for kids, a private office space for adults and the kitchen had everything we needed. I really liked how the house is set up with both spaces for community as well a privacy. The view is fantastic! Cindy and James were great hosts and communicated everything we needed to know. The were small touches that made our trip so enjoyable, such as an Oregon guidebook, restaurant recommendations and plenty of information about the Yachats area. We would LOVE to return in the future.

I’ve been staying in Airbnb‘s for over 10 years throughout the country. Cindy and James Airbnb in Yachats is by far my absolute favorite of over 51 Airbnb visits. Clean, beautiful location, quiet, amazing views of the water, and excellent communication with the host. Does it get any better than this?

The Bonnie Bear house in Yachats was the perfect coastal stay. The views are amazing!! We couldn't believe how beautiful this part of Oregon is. All of the details of the house from architecture to showers and furniture are wonderful. The furniture and beds are extremely comfortable. We had grandparents, parents, and college students staying and we all had our own private areas, and everything was so quiet. There is a courtyard between the two bedrooms in the back plus a large side deck and front deck with rockers. In addition to the beautiful open kitchen/dining area, there is a great bar area with wine fridge that we used for happy hour. The beach is very walkable, practically across the street. The house is just on a steep hill so you have to walk back up at the end, but the steep hill allows the gorgeous views, so it's all worth it. We saw anemone, sea stars, and crabs at low tide in the tide pools. Yachats is a wonderful little town. 100 stars!

Just book it. Photos do not do this place justice and after six weeks, we felt like locals. Great little town with great little eateries, friendly basic supermarket (you can Instacart from this locale as well for special items further out from town) and a location with stunning, ever-changing views of the ocean. Very quiet and safe. We felt very appreciative to be able to bring our fur babies who we could have on the beach in 5 mins. The house itself is well thought-out and we had everything we needed. To be able to cook at the over-sized bench while enjoying the views was a real treat. Beds were comfy and linens were nice quality. The internet speed was great for remote work. The Oregon coastline is nothing short of spectacular. Last but not least, very responsive hosts. We have been traveling for many years and this is most definitely a stand out. Thank you for sharing your space with us.
